Its almost here.

Hudson's 1st birthday is tomorrow. To say I can't believe it is an understatement. One year ago on this very night I sat at our kitchen table eating sushi (I of course was not eating anything raw since little stinky was still inside me:) with my mom, dad, and Tyler talking about my back pain and joking that maybe I should pack a bag for my 35 1/2 week check up the next day. I didn't back my bag...but I should have. Hudson was born the next day at 3:32pm. It was a Godsend that I had an appointment that morning or who knows what would have happened. I definitely wouldn't have made it to Baptist or at least thats what Dr. Crowe told me. Specifically she said..."If your water would have broken at home...you would have had that baby on the side of the road!" Which would NOT have been good considering he was breech. The whole experience was surreal but one I will never forget. Hudson has been the most wonderful, amazing, precious gift I could ever receive. He has taught me so much in this past year and made me view the world completely different than I use to. I could not ever imagine my life without him and I am so thankful that God chose me to be his momma:) I must go now....before I cry all over my keyboard.....Happy Birthday my little dink dink....I love you:)

I'm not lazy...

I swear I'm not. I've just had my plate so full lately when I find a spare minute I usually don't want to spend it on the computer. So this post will be short and sweet...but with a promise to give a more thorough update in the next few days:) All is well in the Blake household.Hudson is a mess. Smart as a tack. Busy as a bee. And CUTE as a button:) Not walking yet but he is much steadier on his feet now. After Thanksgiving is over I will make sure to give a post FULL of pictures. After all, its been a month so I have about 150 to share:) But here are a few from Halloween and one of our trips to the park. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!! We all have so much to be thankful for:)

Happy Fall!

Fall is upon us....yay! I have been ready this time of year and all the fun memory making that comes along with it! Not too mention all the terribly cute outfits we have lined up for Hudson. And speaking of our little monster he is doing lots of things these days! Pulling up on everything, letting go all by HIMSELF, cruising around furniture, and babbling up a storm! Its amazing the changes they make in just a few short weeks. Its so fun to watch:) I try not to jinx him...BUT I think he'll be walking in the next month or so....time will tell. He really is a hoot and a handful! You have to be quick around here because he gets away from you much faster than you ever thought a crawling baby could! He had his 9 month visit with Dr. Roads a few weeks back and got an A+! His weight was close to 21 pounds and "roughly" 29 inches. I say "roughly" because he threw such a fit being measured it was hard to get an accurate measurement but I think he is longer. Tyler and I got the tape measure out when we got home and he was between 29 1/2 and 30. The long and slender trend continues but he is definitely a good eater:)
We went to the pumpkin patch last weekend so that he could have his very first pumpkin picking experience. He loved it! He thinks the pumpkins are just the neatest thing and still everytime we open the door to show him the pumpkins on the front porch he gets VERY excited...too cute.

Picture Time!

As promised here are several pictures from the last few weeks:) Our little monster is doing great...crawling ALL over the place, pulling up, climbing, and ultimately giving momma multiple heart attacks daily! The last 9 months have come and gone WAY too fast! Enjoy!

Quick update

Sorry for the lack of posts lately....so much has been going on. Without going into too much detail (for the sake of time:) we have had a rough past few weeks. All those who know me/us who read this blog probably already know the amount of loss my family has suffered over the last few weeks...first with the passing of my Oma Griffis about 2 weeks ago and then with the passing of my Opa Sample one week later. Its been very hard and needless to say there has not been too much extra time lately to update. Hudson also had his first virus in the middle of all of this and was pretty miserable for a couple days with a high fever. AND momma is now in Grad School at the big Peay so that is time consuming as well. But I promise to post soon with lots of updated pics! We are on the mend. Stay tuned...

New happenings!

What a difference a week makes! Hudson has accomplished lots over the last week or so. As I reported last time...he is crawling! And he has gotten better and better each day...AND he is already trying to pull up! WHOA...I am not ready for this. I can't imagine what a nervous wreck I'll be when he actually starts trying to let go or walk....maybe I'll put a leash on him:) Also, he started waving bye-bye....SUPER sweet. I'm not entirely sure he understands that he is doing it...but hey...it still counts...and he does it on command! Well, he does it on command only if its me, him and Tyler around...usually not when I try to make him perform in front of anyone else....go figure:) AND...somebody get this boy a toothbrush!....thats right, that long awaited tooth has finally made an appearance! He's had a rough past few days but all and all he's handling it pretty well:) I'm sure there is another one not too far behind because those fingers pretty much stay in his mouth all the time. And last, but not least..he turned 8 months old. I won't even begin to go into how I can't believe its been that long and ALL those bittersweet feelings. Lets just say....BEST 8 months of our lives! We love you Stinky!

Video

I took this video probably about a month or so ago when Hudson first started rocking...but rocking is long gone now! He is actually crawling! He can get across a room....he starts out crawling and then usually resorts to an army crawl after a little way, but he's definitely getting the hang of it! I'll try to catch it on video soon...I have a feeling over the next few days he's really gonna get movin;) But in the mean time enjoy this "not too recent" video.

Lately....

Its official...I'm a bad blogger these days! I have sat down to update this probably a few times in the last couple weeks...but then I quickly find something that needs to be done instead...sorry! We have been busy as usual...nothing to eventful..just the everyday hustle and bustle. Hudson is doing well! Still working REALLY hard on his crawling...poor guy! He just can't quite get the coordination thing down yet, which makes him VERY frustrated! His strength is defintely there, he just hasn't been able to put the whole package together yet...but he's SUPER close. Tyler is so anxious for him to get it...but I try to remind him how much things change once he becomes mobile and fill him in on the sequence of events... (1)crawling (2)pulling up (3)walking...yikes! Babies definitely need a pause button:)

He is still toothless...which I can't believe. We have been thinking for so long that we would see a tooth any day, but not yet. However, he HAS to be teething...he has all the signs/symptoms. I guess its just a long process...and I hate it for him:(

He loves to eat!

So precious...and check out that butt up in the air!

Daddy is SO fun!

Hudson had his very first trip to Dunbar Cave today. I have lots of memories of my visits there when I was little...my brother and I loved to feeds the ducks! I can't wait for Hudson to start building those memories too. So since he's too little to remember it now...I make sure to document it all. Tyler just loves the fact that now that I'm a mother...I snap pictures like a tourist;)

I have a few videos from the past month that I need to get uploaded on my computer...once thats done I'll get them posted.

That never stop exploring the wonder of today.

6 month photos:)

Hudson had his 6 month photos taken by the fabulous Shea Halliburton a few weeks back. If you don't already know her or her work (which almost every I know does I think:) then you should. I am so thrilled with how they turned out! I am in tears just about everytime I watch the slideshow....which is only about 12 times a day...hehe:) You can view all the pictures by clicking on the shopping cart icon and it will take you to the gallery. I know I'm partial...but I don't think he could get any cuter!

I can't quite figure out how to get a clickable link on here...if any knows please leave me instructions in the commments...but just go to www.byshea.com/hudson

6 month check-up

Hudson finally had his 6 month check-up yesterday and it went great! Except for the whole shot thing...but I still make Tyler go and hold him for that because I'm a major wimp when it comes to anything that makes my boy the slightest bit uncomfortable:( He did good though! Here are his latest stats:

Weight- 17lbs 12 oz.
Height- 27 1/2 inches ( Dr. Roads says he's tall and slender:)
And believe it or not his head is in a pretty low percentile...guess it justs looks big due to the baldness...BUT he does have lots of fair blonde hair coming in.
He is right on the money developmentally and Dr. Roads took a look at his gums and said he would expect a tooth anyday on the bottom because his gums are nice and flattened out. Of course....I'll be the first one to feel that I'm sure...ouch! He said we could start introducing meat into his diet and start giving him mashed table food...how exciting! I've been making his babyfood and its taking him a little while to get use to actual cooked veggies vs. the good ole' Gerber purees but we're getting there:) Also this week he has started getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth...SO cute! I'm gonna try and catch it on video...he likes to do it the most when he's in the nude though;) He's not far from crawling now...I can't believe it!

Here are some more fun pics!

My handsome boy!

Come out, Come out..Wherever you are??!!

It seems we have lost something...of great value...sleep! Hudson's ability to sleep beautifully through the night is now MIA. Tyler and I always joke about him spoiling us because he has done so well with sleep from the get go. BUT now his tune is changing. Over the last 2 weeks he has built a different sleep pattern...you know the one that has no pattern at all! He still goes to bed easily...like clock work, but now he may decide he wants to get up at 1am or 3am...just for the fun of it I guess. And when he doesn't try to get up in the middle of the night then he wants to get up for the day sometime between 4-5! What is going on here? I have always been warned that they go through spurts when it comes to their sleeping issues, but we are not use to this and frankly...it sucks! But its pretty impossible to be upset at such an adorable little face. We are trying our best to let him soothe himself back to sleep. It would be extremely easy for me to just nurse him back to sleep but we certainly don't want him thinking he can have that anytime he wakes up!

ANYWAY...thats not the only thing going on with our guy. In this last month he has definitely become a baby...no longer an infant:(! Sad and exciting all at the same time. He's all over the place now...rolling everywhere and trying SO hard to crawl. He scoots in reverse pretty well but can't quite get the crawling down yet. He's like a little monkey...contstanty squirming and thrashing about, no longer easy to hold. Much harder to change the ole' diaper now too. He is sitting up independently...yay!He LOVES his pugs...laughs at them frequently and is always reaching for them. He is a hoot..does something new everyday!

Tyler and Hudson had a great first Father's Day together. Without getting too terribly mushy I do have to say what an amazing father Tyler is. I had always known that he'd be a great man for the job but he has exceeded my expectations:)It fills my heart to watch them together and see the happiness on both their faces when they are together. I love to hear Tyler talk about all the things he can't wait to do with Hudson...there's nothing like it. Hudson is a lucky to have such a great daddy and I am lucky to have such a great husband, partner, bestfriend:)

Ok..ENOUGH tootin Tyler's horn...enjoy some pics!
